Cox Communications and 13WMAZ Partner to Offer Exclusive US Open Tennis Coverage
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 1, 2009
Macon, GA---13WMAZ and Cox Communications are partnering to offer exclusive digital cable coverage of the US Open tennis tournament on Cox Channel 121. The action on Cox Channel 121 will air on September 7th from 11 am until 6 pm with coverage also available on WMAZ-DT, 13.2.
The coverage on Cox Channel 121 will allow viewers to watch tennis programming preempted by the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon on 13WMAZ.
“We hope tennis fans can take advantage of this special opportunity,” said Jeff Dudley, president and general Manager of 13WMAZ. “We know that the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon provides a meaningful service to Middle Georgians. It’s a tradition in our community, but this important project does preempt our regularly-scheduled programming. We’re pleased that Cox has partnered with us to make tennis coverage available on Cox Channel 121, and we’re also happy we can now use the power of digital television to make the programming available on WMAZ-DT, 13.2.”
CBS Sports is serving up its 42nd consecutive year of US Open coverage on 13WMAZ and will broadcast more than 30 hours of this year's event, including the prime-time Women's Singles final and the Men's Singles Final.
ESPN2 (Cox Channel 22) and the Tennis Channel (Cox Channel 333) will also broadcast more than 100 hours of action of the US Open, starting with the men's and women's opening rounds and culminating with the Women's Doubles final and the Men’s Singles final on September 13th.
13WMAZ is a Gannett-owned television station.
